Our story
Eco Pest Control - an innovative company offering a comprehensive range of pest control products and services - was founded by husband and wife team, Gavin and Sarah Hutton, in 2003.
After many years working as a pest control technician Gavin noticed an increasing demand for information about environmentally friendly pest control. He also saw a need for more education about traditional chemical control methods and the harm they were causing to people's health and the environment.
Gavin was regularly hearing stories about pest control chemical sensitivities causing illnesses and allergic reactions, not only from customers but also from pest control technicians. As an example, the average treatment for traditional termite control methods required up to 2000 litres of toxic chemicals being pumped into the soil and Gavin was determined to find a safer method.
Concerned about protecting his own health, the health of his fellow work colleagues and the health of his customers, Gavin, together with Sarah, started Eco Pest Control with the aim of offering less toxic, but effective, pest control solutions.
The Hutton's began by trialing safe termite control methods on commercial kitchens until they were confident that there was an effective solution to replace conventional termite control.
Today, having developed safe, effective, non-toxic bating and monitoring systems for termite control as well as the control of other pests, our business is experiencing rapid growth.
We are proud that we can provide pest control methods which protect public health and property, minimise financial loss, reduce their environmental footprint and exceed customers' expectations.

You talk, we listen
Following many years working in the pest control industry Gavin Hutton become concerned about the increasing number of customers complaining about adverse health effects, suspected to be caused by toxic pest control techniques.
Gavin established Eco Pest Control to address these concerns and provide alternative pest control methods that were safe for customers, their family and pets, pest control technicians, and the environment.
Not willing to rest on our laurels we are constantly researching and sourcing alternative products to provide our customers with safe and effective pest control solutions.
We eliminate pests, without harmful chemicals
Eco Pest Control does not compromise on termite control methods and only treat termites with baiting systems. We do not spray chemicals.
The pre-construction product, Trithor, is a physical termite proof blanket that replaces the need to spray large volumes of toxic chemicals when building or extending a home.
The rodent baits we use have no secondary poisoning which means if another animal, such as an owl, snake or dog, eats a rodent that has consumed the bait it will not have any ill effects.
We control cockroaches with a gel bait which allows us to treat commercial and domestic kitchens without needing to strip the kitchen or vacant the premises.
Our ant bait replaces the need for liquid chemical sprays by applying small amounts of bait the target ant species transfers to the nest.
Our possum nesting boxes and one way exit doors allow us to safely remove possums from roof spaces, minimising stress to the possum by allowing them to exit the roof space and live in their own territory in alternative housing.
With all our services we adopt an integrated pest management approach designed to educate clients on the importance of making their homes less attractive to pests, in turn reducing the need to apply pesticides. We teach that "pests" form an essential part of our eco system, even though they do not belong in people's homes.
Walk the Talk
Not only are we focused on providing an environmentally friendly service but we also support initiatives that combat the deterioration of our planet and improve the environment.
Some of the initiatives we support include:
- Trees for Life - with every termite system we install, Trees for Life plant a tree to assist in revegetation.
- Carbon Neutral - we offset our motor vehicles through Carbon Neutral to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Australian Wildlife Fund - for each Exterra Termite Baiting and Monitoring system we install we contribute $30, in conjunction with our supplier Exterra, to the Fund.
Eco Pest Control is continually researching products, procedures and like minded services to make our business greener every day. We use environmentally conscious cleaning products within our office, have an internal recycling system in place, purchase recycled stationery products, use fuel efficient vehicles and incorporate the latest technologies where possible to reduce the use of paper and postage. Our pest control technicians use electronic handheld devices to manage projects, cutting down on travel time, fuel consumption, and paper usage.
It's not easy being Green, but it's essential.
